
Web design and development projects
Bike Temple is a University-wide program to promote bicycle use by Temple students, faculty, and staff. The overall goal of the program is to enable more people to travel on a bike and to do so safely, to build a great bike culture at Temple that supports the University’s commitment to sustainability and reputation for innovative, green programs.
This project was an end-to-end effort. I came in and worked with the stakeholders to create a long run vision for the site. Some of the duties included:
- Information Architecture
- Work with student workers to develop a graphical theme
- Implement the graphics on Drupal
- Implement all features
- Setup a LAMP stack.
- Memcache
- Varnish
- APC
- PHP 5.2
- MySQL 5.1

Sometimes I get requests from friends to help them with a business they're trying to get started. Often times when someone is considering how to get going, one of the first bullet points is "Create a basic website". I met with my friend and helped him figure out what pieces of his business process he could efficiently and feasibly do within his budget. In this discussion it became clear that as a art and music venue he needed to:
DGA Partners, healthcare management professionals is a full service management consulting firm, in Philadelphia. They had an existing contract with a technical writing firm who was had a very explicit idea of how things should look and feel. They had wanted to implement their new site on a CMS, but had heard that CMS can be very difficult to design for. I worked with their design/content people to implement their ideas.
Associated Paving Contractors has an extensive website catalog of services. They do everything from large highway paving jobs, to small driveways, septic tank removals, and just about anything environmental. They came to me with very little vision and had been burned before. We came up with a value minded proposal and a reasonable timeline. We hired a writer to help with the content development and overal things went very smoothly.
Sparango Line Striping of Cheltonham PA wanted a basic website they could update themselves. They also need a logo and consultations regarding a logo.
The website was built on J!1.0, I launched this site in the fall of 2006. He's received an impressive amount of search driven traffic.
