ASP.Net and visual studio are probably the easiest way to create a stateful application. Often times, if I need to make a windows based utility, or a quick and dirty mSQL implementation, I will choose to do it with asp.net

I had a couple projects this year that involved major Active Directory and Exchange related duties. I find that most everything I need to do for any underlying Microsoft middleware, requires Powershell. It's a great tool, and you can use any .Net class in your scripts.
